Kanye West Reschedules Yeezy Season 5 Show after Backlash

Kanye West ruffled the feathers of New York Fashion Week once again, when he reportedly did not adhere to the guidelines for booking his Feb. 15 Yeezy Season 5 show. The Council of Fashion Designers of America voiced their displeasure with West by initially leaving him off the official NYFW schedule all together.

The organization’s CEO, Steven Kolb, told Women’s Wear Daily, “Once again, CFDA was not approached or consulted about the possibility of Kanye West showing on the official New York Fashion Week schedule. Not going through the proper channels is disruptive to the whole week and unfair to designers who have secured spots through the formal procedure.”

‘Ye has since made good with the CFDA, by reaching out to Kolb personally, according to HYPEBEAST.

“Kanye called me personally to let me know that he had no intention of showing on top of another designer, and was unaware that there was a conflict. He explained that once he realized Marchesa was in the time slot, he immediately looked at alternative options. The CFDA appreciates Kanye’s outreach and effort, and we look forward to working with him far in advance to integrate Yeezy into the schedule in seasons to come.”

The misunderstanding placed Yeezy’s show at the same time as Marchesa, a high-end womenswear brand. Now that everything is cleared up, Kanye has been bumped to the 3 p.m. time-slot, and now the Yeezy Season 5 show is appearing on the NYFW website’s schedule for Feb. 15 at Pier 59 Studios.

What kind of looks do you expect to see in Season 5? Hopefully new music is on the way.
