Kendrick Lamar Invites Fans on Stage to Perform With Him in New York

Along with J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar is the people’s champion of hip-hop. A few days ago he added to his legacy as a good guy by inviting fans to perform onstage with him during a secret American Express show in Brooklyn.

Throughout the performance, K. Dot runs through plenty of his classic tracks, many of which are just a few years old. The crowd went crazy pretty much the entire time, but they seemed to especially enjoy “m.A.A.d city,” “Money Trees” and the anthemic “Alright.”

At around the 23:30-mark of the stream, K. Dot invites one fan onto the stage and gives him the chance to drop bars over the live band’s instrumental. We can barely hear what he’s saying, but K. Dot nonetheless looks pretty impressed. About two minutes later, he brings up another fan, and the two of them begin freestyling over a 1990s, boom bap-centric instrumental.

Those are just two of the recent dope moments in the already legendary career of Kendrick Lamar, who keeps fans wanting more while seemingly giving pretty much all he has. Notice we said “seemingly.”  The untitled unmastered. performer has yet to release or even officially confirm his joint project with J. Cole, but according to his TDE labelmate Ab-Soul, the two have been working on the project for a long time now.

During an interview with The Breakfast Club, Soulo confirmed that the album does, in fact, exist. “There is [an album],” he told DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God. “They got it. They got something in the works. They been working on that motherfucker for awhile.”

We have no idea when a Cole and K. Dot album will finally surface, but as long as K. Dot keeps bringing fans onstage for mid-concert freestyles, we have enough to be thankful for.
