There’s only one week to go before the premiere of part two of The Get Down on Netflix, and the anticipation is at an all-time high to see what happens to the cast since the part one finale. Adding to the excitement for the season, House of Iona and RCA Records release “Break the Locks,” a new record off the show’s soundtrack.

The song is performed by The Get Down Brothers during the series, which consists of actors Justice Smith, who plays Ezekiel “Books” Figuero; Skylan Brooks, who plays Ra Ra Kipling; Tremaine Brown Jr., who portrays Boo Boo Kipling; and Shameik Moore, who is the group’s DJ, Shaolin Fantastic.

Along with the record, the label also dropped the performance video, showing the five group mates sporting an upgraded look from their spontaneous performance during last year’s finale episode of The Get Down.

The lyrics for the record were reportedly written by Nas, who is an executive producer for the series, as production was curated by Salaam Remi, Elliott Wheeler and Baz Luhrmann. While you may recognize a few samples on the track, the hook hears the guys chanting, “We had to break the locks/We fought our way up to the top.”

While part two of the series is slated to premiere on Netflix on April 7, the official soundtrack, The Get Down: Original Soundtrack From The Netflix Original Series, will be available on April 14. For now, you can enjoy the sounds of “Break the Locks” and see the performance below.
