Marley Dias, Creator Of #1000BlackGirlBooks, Is One Step Closer To Becoming An Author

Marley Dias continues to inspire bookworms around the world with her latest news. According to .Mic, the 12-year-old will pen her own book, which will debut in 2018. The passage will be a how-to on ways children can put their imaginative aspirations into action.

“Marley’s energy and passion are electric!” said Andrea Davis Pinkey, vice president and executive editor of Scholastic. “Through her smarts and ingenuity, she’s delivered a jolt of inspiration that’s sent an unstoppable shock-wave to kids everywhere who’ve stood up with Marley to shout ‘Yes!’ to the power of positive action.”

Just last year, Dias put her aspirations into the atmosphere by establishing her successful venture, #1000BlackGirlBooks. Throughout the span of the books that she has collected, the main character always represented herself or her peers, that being a young black girl.

On the topic of her forthcoming published work, Dias said she can’t contain her excitement. “All my friends can probably only name one publishing house that is Scholastic,” she said in the statement. “They are everywhere. Scholastic is the perfect partner for spreading my message of diversity, inclusion and social action.”

Another fellow bookworm, Daliyah Maria Arana, also displayed her impressive literary accomplishments. Earlier this year, the 4-year-old celebrated her completion of reading more than 1,000 books with a trip to the Library of Congress. “I like to check out books every day,” the precocious child said to the Gainesville Times. “And I want to teach other kids to read at an early age, too.”
