Murs and Curtiss King Fight to Get a Woman’s Attention on New Song “Lemon Juice”
Murs is back with new music. The West Coast native links up with Curtiss King for “Lemon Juice,” a creative record that finds both rappers trading bars and disses back and forth while trying to get a woman’s attention. The smooth record is pretty fantastic and hilarious to listen to. The song was inspired by Positive K’s classic “I Got A Man” record that dropped in 1992. Murs says that “Lemon Juice” is a reflection of his real relationship with Curtiss King.
“We’ve been working together for years, but I had to find the right place for our personalities to collide ‘cause our whole relationship is just me and him going back and forth talking trash about each other,” MURS said. “We’ve done more serious songs together, but nothing that encapsulates our friendship the way it truly is in real life the way ‘Lemon Juice’ does.”
“Lemon Juice” is a record off Murs upcoming album, Captain California. The new LP is inspired by Murs’ lifelong love for comic books and his travel throughout his native California. Captain California features MURS telling the stories about his beloved California. The Strange Music MC constructs tales about the streets and about relationships featuring memorable characters, ones who would fill right into the storyline of a comic book.
“The whole album is based on my love of comic books,” MURS explains. “On Captain California, I’m making things colorful and vivid and telling stories where I sensationalize them without glorifying them.”
The first single that was dropped off Captain California, was a song dedicated to Kanye West titled “God Bless Kanye West.” He released the video last week. Murs was inspired to create “GBKW” following Kanye’s breakdown. Captain California will drop on March 10. Bump “Lemon Juice” below.
