Nelly Weighs In on New England Patriots Players Refusing to Visit White House
The President Trump shade continues to flourish, with the latest act of defiance coming from players from the Super Bowl-winning New England Patriots who are refusing to make the visit to the White House. At this point, players leading the boycott include tight end Marcellus Bennett, defensive lineman Alan Branch, running back LaGarrette Blount, defensive end Chris Long, linebacker Dont’a Hightower and defensive back Devin McCourty.
Nelly was recently a guest on the Fox Sports 1 show Skip and Shannon: Undisputed, with Shannon Sharp and Skip Bayless, where the St. Louis rapper touched on the divide that seems to be growing between minorities in sports and the new presidential regime.
“This is the beginning,” noted Nelly. “It’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better anytime soon. I’m talking all the way across the board. Now you have to look at all the major sports franchises and how this is going to play out. You have to look at the demographics on a lot of these franchises.”
He continued, “Even if you have some players that want to go, they aren’t crossing that picket line, so to speak. Because you have to come back to work tomorrow. I don’t care who you are”
Speaking specifically about the NBA, the St. Lunatic believes there’s a good chance the winner of the NBA Finals will boycott the White House visit because of the largely Black makeup of the teams in the league. “You have a 95 percent chance of not having the NBA represented after they win the championship. Unless you are going to use alternative teams.”
