In the Internet Age, anything possible. You no longer need the support of a major label, nor will it necessarily benefit you, to the extent it might have back in rap’s hey-day. Still, there are a few independent rap pioneers, and a few that are champions for the new generation of rappers, both “types” equally dope. In the video above, we take a look at five such rap artists, who’ve helped paved the way for independent artists, and helped define, but perhaps more importantly, push the boundaries for what it means to be an independent rapper.
