The Flint water crisis began in 2014 when the Flint River became the drinking water source for the city of Flint, Michigan. Due to insufficient water treatment, over 100,000 residents were exposed to high levels of lead in the drinking water. A federal state of emergency was declared in January 2016 and Flint residents were instructed to use only bottled or filtered water for drinking, cooking, cleaning, and bathing.
Today, Kelly Kinkaid, born and raised in Flint, Michigan, introduces us to the directors, Brian Schulz & Matthew Mills, behind the new short film, For Flint. A documentary that’s unveiling what’s really going on with this water crisis.
“Why is change so slow?” Brian Schulz asks.
April 24th, marked the 3 year anniversary since the water went bad in the city of Flint, and these directors are determined to bring change.
Kelly Kinkaid also had another trick up her sleeve as she had the mayor of Flint call-in, Karen Weaver.
Watch below as she dives deeper with facts, an update on their water crisis, her short discussion with President Trump, and ways you can help.
