Andrew Schulz came under fire for tweeting, “Cowards and children refuse to take responsibility. People don’t get murdered at Jazz, Classical, R&B, EDM, etc shows. This is a rap thing,” which he explained during a recent VladTV interview. The “Brilliant Idiots” podcaster explained that growing up in New York in the 90s made him aware of the violence in hip-hop culture, and he added that gangster rap of today influences a lot of impressionable minds to carry out acts of violence.
During the conversation Schulz admitted that gangster rap was the only genre of hip-hop that he listens to, and he pointed out that humans are naturally drawn to violence in society. Continuing with his point, he questions whether rappers can influence violence, seeing as how they greatly influence other aspects of culture, like clothing and what kind of alcohol we drink.
Check out more of what Andrew had to say in the above clip, including why he believes celebrities of a certain stature should steer clear of promoting violence.
