https://www.vladtv.com – Recently, leading scholar and social commentator Dr. Boyce Watkins gave VladTV an exclusive interview; this portion of the in-depth dialogue broaches the topics of Dave Chappelle taking a sabbatical from show business and how everyone has some sort of boss.

When questioned about Dave Chappelle shirking the spotlight during the pinnacle of his popularity, Dr. Boyce Watkins offers his perspective saying, “I think Dave ran into the curse of being too authentic of a human being to be at that particular level,” adding, “I think when you get to that level of fame – where there’s that much money on the line – and you’re dealing with so many warped incentives from people who only care about money, who are only there to worship money — it’s much, much harder to be an artist.”

Sincerity encompasses his statement as Dr. Boyce Watkins offers, “It’s much, much harder to be a good person, it’s much, much harder to do what you truly love as opposed to doing what you need to do to fit some model that’s being run by a corporation. Nobody’s going to put $50 million on the line without a lot of restrictions and safeguards in place.”

Watch the full clip to get more of Dr. Boyce Watkins’ thoughts on Dave Chappelle safeguarding his integrity and happiness and refusing to become enslaved to a corporation, and his thoughts on being a boss versus having a boss and saving versus flipping money.
