Bre-Z vs. Freda Gatz: Meet the Philly MC

Yesterday we sat with one of Empire’s brightest stars Bre-Z who’s character Freda Gatz, a troubled signee of Empire Records whose sharp rhymes and kick-ass attitude have kept us on our toes since we were 1st introduced to her character last season.

We had a conversation with her about the similarities between Bre-Z and her character Freda Gatz. The two have similar background each of their fathers were barbers by trade. Bre-Z, the Philly-born rapper was a barber in the AUC in Atlanta where she recorded between cuts prior her role on Empire. The main difference between the two characters and is that Bre-Z has grown and developed as a woman ,and is a lot more playful and happy. Freda is still going through her deployment process and his currently locked up awaiting release from jail after shooting Jamal in the season 2 finally. The frustration we see in Freda may smooth out as she gets back to her craft of making music as Bre-Z hints.
