Cyhi the Prynce opened up to VladTV about his career taking a hit after L.A. Reid left Def Jam shortly after he impressed him in a tough audition and got signed. Cyhi explained that the label didn’t understand him or his music, so his album was never released.

After going through a rough patch and becoming homeless, Cyhi caught a break after Kanye saw his “I Wish” video with Yelawolf. Shortly after that, Kanye flew him out to Hawaii while he was working on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Cyhi spoke about being in the studio alone after Kanye left and doing a verse on “So Appalled” that Kanye later heard after Cyhi went home.

After playing the verse for Beyonce and JAY-Z, it was Beyonce who told Kanye to sign Cyhi.
