Recently, DJ Vlad sat down with Damien Ritter, Hopsin’s former business partner, and manager, to talk about their falling out and cleared the air on his behalf on what caused their falling out. Before their estranged relationship, Ritter says that he was introduced to Hopsin after being laid off from his management consultant position in 2008. Together, Ritter says that he and Hopsin went half on their Funk Volume label and even personally invested $50K and spent 2-3 years on making money on the side and helped Hopsin pay rent before things took off.
As things progressed, Ritter says they landed on the XXL Freshman Cover, and once the Raw tour commenced he began to feel some tension. It wasn’t until the last tour date in Las Vegas when Ritter says Hopsin felt the need to get new management. Unfortunately, the split wasn’t amicable, and Hopsin responded to the move with a diss record which Ritter felt was embarrassing and had him caught up in a few emotions. The former manager says that he tried to reach out to Hopsin to work out their issues; however, he was blocked from any phone calls.
