https://www.vladtv.com – “I’m better than I’ve ever been,” David Banner gleefully states in this exclusive clip. If you ask him, life is great. Over the years the rapper’s sole purpose has been to help the Black community worldwide, and with his company A Banner Vision and his Heal the Hood Foundation, the social activist is making huge strides towards his goal. His multimedia company “is going international,” and Banner was recently given a “powerful opportunity” to go to East Africa. “It’s up to people like me to become successful,” says the Mississippi native.
If you weren’t aware, David Banner has been literally “healing the hood” with his charitable Christmas campaign. It began when he was doing shows and has since become a way to help folks around the holiday season. “During that time I was getting paid maybe around $20,000 a show,” he recalls. “That’s what I was bringing home, that was early. And I would take that $20,000 and basically just walk around some of the most impoverished neighborhoods in Jackson, Mississippi and I would just give $100 bills out.” Now that he ventured out of the music scene, he’s been able to succeed in several different avenues and hopes our future leaders will follow suit. “I make more money doing a Gatorade commercial than I made being on tour for eight months, touring five days a week.”
David Banner is in no way bashing the hip-hop community, as it has helped him generate income and raise awareness throughout his career. “Some of the things and opportunities that hip-hop provided for me I wouldn’t have ever dreamed.” Today, he wants kids to know that the genre isn’t their only way out. “It is my responsibility to bring something back to hip-hop to help kids – who are now the age that my children would be if I had them – have an opportunity to make some money and thrive the way we thrive off of hip-hop.” Watch as the man who is “a semester and a thesis away” from his Masters sheds some light on how to prosper outside of music in this VladTV exclusive.
