In September 2016, Akon sat down with VladTV alongside his Konvict Kartel artist OG Boo Dirty to speak about the common misconception that Africans don’t like African Americans. Akon explained that it’s the complete opposite in the country, adding that he has had plenty of African American friends who moved to the country and became multi-millionaires from starting their own business.

During the conversation, Akon also clarified statements he made about Donald Trump, pointing out that he doesn’t think Trump is like Hitler, but he believes that the new president’s comments are of the Hitler-era.
