Flashback: Shawty Lo on Giving Up the Streets to Focus on Rap (RIP Shawty Lo)

As the Hip Hop world mourns the sudden death of Shorty Lo, VladTV pays homage to the “Dey Know” rapper following his tragic car accident early Wednesday morning [September 21]. In a previous interview with him, the rapper talked about being raised by his grandmother and coming up from nothing before his rise to stardom. Before his success, he admitted that he had to rob, steal cars and sell drugs before coming to the realization that he wanted to be bigger than a drug dealer. Although the rapper says he served time in prison, he says his team, D4L, made sure to keep him up on their projects, like their 2005 hit “Laffy Taffy” and “Put Some Respek on It,” which followed.

Early Wednesday, Lo’s manager confirmed their loss via Twitter writing: “My brother has passed he is no longer here, but his spirit, his kind heart, and his music will live on Long live Shawty Lo King of Bankhead.”
