Although incarcerated, former gang leaders Larry Hoover and Jeff Fort (a.k.a. Chief Malik) believe – like some other Chicagoans – that their voice can be used to stop the violent killings that’ve taken over their city.

G Herbo, however, does not.

In November 2015, the 20-year-old drill artist shared his opinion on the gang co-founders’ statements, telling his Instagram followers it’s highly unlikely due to the fact that “nobody know s**t about them under the age of 25” unless they’ve done their research. “If they let them out right now he not commanding no thousands of people,” G Herbo told DJ Vlad. “It’s not like that no more. Nobody can’t even command 20 f**king people…It’ not happening anymore. I promise.”
G Herbo also believes Hoover and Fort’s efforts would be slighted because “it’s our generation that’s out here doing everything,” while older men who are in the streets are busy “passing the guns down to their little homies.”

Hear about the lack of diversity in Chicago neighborhoods and G Herbo’s thoughts on Freeway Ricky above.
