Godfrey on Ad-libbing All His Lines as First Officer Gaemon on Soul Plane (Part 2)

In this clip, Godfrey talks about his African roots and shows off a tattoo that commemorates his parents as well as his Igbo heritage. He made it a point to say that he’s 100% Nigerian, and talked about growing up with African parents, particularly his father. Godfrey said that he’s one of the first comedians to discuss Nigeria and his father was at the center of his description of his [parents] homeland. Godfrey revealed that he was born in Nebraska while his father was in college attending the University of Nebraska, and how he grew up in Chicago.
Godfrey also went in detail about his time filming Soul Plane alongside A-list celebrities like Kevin Hart and Snoop Dogg. According to Godfrey, Soul Plane was bootlegged by someone at the studio but that despite the film hitting the streets before it premiered it remains a highlight of his career. He talked about landing his role in the film and how he had the opportunity to chop it up with Snoop. Godfrey said he and Snoop discussed Saturday morning cartoons and claimed Snoop is one of the smartest people he’s ever came across. He closed by talking about how Soul Plane continues to garner him attention which is something he’s continuously grateful for.
