Recently, Jas Prince and Young Money Records have finally come to a settlement which forced YMCMB to fork over $11 million. Before the news going viral, we sat down with Jas Prince to discuss the financial battle in which he says he deserved. Though people discuss Birdman’s horrible track record when paying people, Jas suggested his team “do what’s right” and “figure it out.”
In addition to the legal drama, Jas touched on Drake and Meek Mill’s infamous ghostwriting fiasco and denied that the rapper had anyone complete a full song, however, while in a studio session with his team, often ideas and lines are always shared during the creative process. “Drake is a great artist. He knows how to put words together and write great songs that everyone would like.” He added, “It’s not no ghostwriter. Who doesn’t be in the studio with their boys or whoever and people throw an idea or say something?”
In the past, Jas’ father, J. Prince, helped settle some feuds between rappers and is often sought out for advice as one of the industry’s OG. When Jas asked if his father could mend Meek and Drake’s conflict, he says it would be up to his father and the two rappers, however, on the business side, he says, “Let’s make these records, let’s all get this money, and let’s have fun.” He said smiling, “Let’s all go on a big a** tour. G*ddamn Chris, Meek, and Drake.”
