Famed actress Karyn Parsons spoke openly about her Sweet Blackberry Foundation, which helps bring little-known stories of Black History to light for children through cartoons narrated by the likes of Chris Rock and Queen Latifah. 

Karyn explained that she was inspired by her mother’s stories of people like Henry Box Brown, who mailed his way to freedom in the mid-1800s, to bring these stories to the masses and educate children. During the conversation, Parsons also addressed the “Dolly Experiment,” where black children have consistently chosen a white doll over a black doll as being “good” and “pretty” since the experiment was started in the ’40s.
