LaVar Ball has made a lot of really off-the-wall remarks since bursting on to the national scene. But during an interview with the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin on Thursday, he may have made his craziest comments yet.

Ball was asked to explain why his son Lonzo and UCLA weren’t able to beat Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament in late March. LaVar had previously predicted that the Bruins would run through the tournament and win the national championship. And Ball responded by blaming several of the white players on UCLA for the loss.

“Realistically, you can’t win no championship with three white guys because the foot speed is too slow,” Ball said. “I told Lonzo, ‘One of these games, you might need to go for 30 or 40 points.’ It turned out that was the one game. Then, once they get to the Elite 8, they’re right there.”
