In this clip, Lord Jamar discussed the passing of Lil Peep and the overall drug-user culture in hip-hop today. Lord Jamar dissected 21 Savage’s comments about there being no moral difference between the previous generation selling drugs versus this current generation abusing them. To Lord Jamar, this comment sounds good on the surface, but he considers it an unwise stance. As he pointed out, drug use was prevalent in previous generations, and if only the younger rappers listened to the old heads, they wouldn’t have to engage the same battles.
The conversation expanded to the overall generational divide in hip-hop today. But Lord Jamar doesn’t consider himself a hater toward this generation in particular. He brought up the fact that music and moments are spanning the entire 40-year existence of hip-hop that he has problems with.
