Lord Jamar: Police Represent the White Establishment Even When They’re Black

In the above clip, Vlad presents to Lord Jamar his theory that more cooperation between citizens and police officers in poor communities and communities of color would improve socioeconomic conditions. Lord Jamar promptly tells Vlad that snitching is not the answer. “Snitching is not gonna clean up the hood,” Jamar says. “Why call the police when you can’t trust them?” Jamar does concede that the police can be useful in certain scenarios, but that historically, the police have never given black Americans justice.
