https://www.vladtv.com – Maino knows all too well about rappers not favoring one another, as he began his career dissing other artists. At one point he called out Bad Boy Records and said it was dead, and as if on cue, Diddy quickly stepped to him about it personally. “It was the OG talking to a young, reckless kid who really didn’t know what he was doing at the time,” Maino recalls. “Now I’m in a space where, I look back on those things and I say ‘Man, I really didn’t have to do that.’ But it is what it is because that was the path that I was on.”
When asked about Meek Mill going up against fellow Philly artist, Ar-Ab, Bed-Stuy spitter Maino simply calls it “interesting.” “I know Philly for being a very passionate, hip-hop town…It’s a history of crews going at each other,” he says. Though he respects Meek Mill’s music, when it comes to him and Drake he says the Canadian singer/rapper won due to his clever responses. “If you look at what he’s done it was well-strategized,” Maino admits. “He put his best foot forward for right now – we don’t know what’s go[ing] to happen tomorrow.”
Watch on as he details how his track “Rumors” helped jump-start his career and more in this telling exclusive clip.
