https://www.vladtv.com – A video of a bus driver falling asleep at the wheel in October has been released by Michigan officials this week.
According to The Oakland Press, a 67-year-old SMART bus driver fell asleep at the wheel, which resulted in a half-mile crash. Leon Yusuf Rasheed told police he hit the accelerator instead of the brakes, and then apparently dozed off. Rasheed rear-ended the car of a 79-year-old couple and five other cars. Two people were hospitalized with multiple broken bones.
Rasheed was employed with the company for 11 years before getting charged with a misdemeanor moving violation, and causing serious impairment of body function. He was called in for an arraignment on Wednesday and bail was set at $10,000. Rasheed says he’s apologized for his actions and glad no one was hurt. West Bloomfield
Police Lt. Curtis Lawson says the accident shook up the small town.
“It is one of the largest crash scenes in West Bloomfield history,” Lawson said. “We are fortunate no one was killed.”
The sole passenger on board of the bus was not harmed.
