Miley Cyrus Cops Backlash for Appropriating Hip-Hop Culture

Miley Cyrus’ 2013 album, ‘Bangerz,’ featured a number of rappers on it, including Nelly, Future, Big Sean, and French Montana. It also featured a number of Mike Will Made-It productions and was heavily influenced by hip-hop. But as she prepares to release her new single, “Malibu,” next week, Miley spoke with Billboard about why she doesn’t listen to rap music anymore, outside of Kendrick Lamar, and she criticized it for being too misogynistic. It led to many people criticizing her for appropriating hip-hop culture when it fit her needs and then abandoning it later.
