Since being on top of the mainstream circuit, Mya has since moved to a more independent route, which she revealed is more fufilling for her. She spoke to VladTV about meeting with Rap-A-Lot CEO J. Prince to gain wisdom about succeeding in the independent music platform, which she said led to a partnership and the release of her Beauty & The Streets Vol. 1 mixtape.
During the conversation Mya also spoke about working with Nicki Minaj early on in her career for their collaboration titled “Ponytail.” While it seems that putting their first collaboration together was an easy feat, Mya pointed out that working with an artist on a big label for a feature costs a lot of money.
