https://www.vladtv.com – Drea O recently caught up with Royce Da 5’9 in Austin, TX., while he was in town for the annual SXSW music festival.

Speaking on the festival, the Slaughterhouse emcee says it’s a great way to network and see new artists. “You kind of gotta look at it like a party that everybody on campus is going to. You can either sit in the dorm room or you can just go be a part of everything,” he says.

Next the topic arises of Royce coming to Eminem’s defense in response to Lord Jamar accusing Slim Shady of exploiting a Black artform for personal gain; comments the Brand Nubian emcee made while sitting down with VladTV.

Calling Eminem a “very close friend” whom he would defend against pretty much anything, Royce says Lord Jamar is entitled to his opinion, though it’s indisputable that Eminem has made contributions to Hip-Hop.

“If we wanna talk about signing 50 Cent, making the ‘8 Mile’ movie which put battle rap on a pedestal…those are contributions to the artform,” argues Royce.

Check out the clip to hear Royce speak further on Lord Jamar, whom he calls an OG that deserves respect.
