Russell Simmons: Justin Bieber’s Influence Changed America’s Drug Policy

Besides leaving his imprint in the Hip Hop world, Russell Simmons, along with some major celebrities, helped use their status to bring awareness to the injustice within America’s prison and legal system, and explains to DJ Vlad how he changed the Rockefeller drug law.

“When we changed the Rockefeller drug law, 95 percent of the people in jail under the Rockefeller drug law were people of color.” He said, “Whites and Black use drugs at the same rate, not only was it a horrible idea to make diseased people violent criminals, it was executed so unjustly.”
