Russell Westbrook: ‘I Ain’t No Spurs Fan’

https://www.vladtv.com – As fans and heavily opinionated NBA watchers, we can all agree this year maybe the toughest year to give any individual award out. How can we clearly give the league’s MVP award to Stephen Curry when James Harden has carried his team without his sidekick – the league’s best big man Dwight Howard? Or when Lebron James is still putting up 25/5/5 on average in what many consider his “slump” year; Lebron has taken the Cavs from laughing stock of the league to shoe-in for the Eastern Conference Finals. Russell Westbrook is also on a historic run of sorts, carrying his team through the trenches of this NBA season without Kevin Durant.
In this exclusive, Russell talks about the tough Western Conference race and his team’s physicality in the last stretch of the season. He goes on to discuss the pressures of OKC being in a win-or-lose situation with the New Orleans Pelicans in the last week of the season.
With the last spot of the playoffs coming down to a win or out situation versus the Pelicans, Westbrook was asked about whether he would root for the hated rival, the San Antonio Spurs. With no hesitation Russ makes it clear he can’t stand the Spurs. Yet, you have to wonder, if Russell will still root for fellow team Jordan member Kawhi Leonard, if the Spurs are to play against the Pelicans. Hopefully, this isn’t the last of Westbrook this year, because if the Thunder do make the playoffs it would be a treat to see Stephen Curry vs. Russell Westbrook.
