Sway In The Morning took a visit to the city of wind and the turn out was incredible. Held at the Chop Shop, the show hosted the Friday Fire Cypher, showcased Chicago artists, and more.
Black Ink Crew cast members, Ryan Henry and Don & Phor Brumfield, stopped by the Chop Shop and talked about their show, the business, and staying afloat in Chicago without losing touch.
Ryan began explaining how difficult it was to open a black owned tattoo shop within Chicago without the support of the artistic community. He and his constituents had to begin their business by tattooing out of their apartments and eventually grew it into a franchise.
Don Brumfield spoke about how he uses fame as a responsibility to show his fans how to grow. Rather than taking on fame as a crown, he asked, “how can I utilize this to help out?” He still works a 9-5 with youth at alternative schools and says he doesn’t want to quit on them because of his new endeavors.
Phor Brumfield talked about his music career and performed his new single “Chi-Town.”
