Dr. Dre declared himself “hip hop’s first billionaire” in 2014 when he sold his stake in Beats to Apple for $300 million. But he spoke to soon. In 2017, Forbes estimated his net worth at $810 million—$70 million more than Jay Z, and $10 million less than Diddy. These three rap moguls are currently locked into a tight race for hip hop’s first billionaire.
Seeing as none of them were valued at more than $500 million in 2011: it is only a matter of time before one of them crosses the billion dollar threshold and joins the “3 Comma Club.”
