Yasiin Bey Announces Two New Albums

Yasiin Bey is about to drop three albums, including one with Mannie Fresh.

As it turns out, Yasiin Bey’s (Mos Def) forthcoming album Dec 99th won’t be his last. During an interview At Art Basel with WRL, Bey revealed that he will release two additional albums before he retires at the end of the year. 

“I will be premiering my new album, Negus In Natural Person, and me and Mannie Fresh’s project, which is called As Promised, at The Apollo on Dec. 21,” he said.

Ferrari Sheppard, with whom Bey collaborated on Dec 99th, confirmed the news to Okayplayer. “[He] will perform Negus and Mannie, some songs from the albums at least,” he said. “No release date for the albums. They are complete.”

After the Apollo show on the 21st, Bey will conclude his career with three shows at Washington D.C.’s Kennedy Center on December 31st, January 1st, and January 2nd. He previewed several new songs from his upcoming albums during the Art Basel interview; listen below.
