The Young Black Kings is an organization in Oakland which young people in the community come together and unite through the arts. In accordance with Young Gifted and Black, Youth Speak and AAMA this program gives spaces for young people to express themselves and share their voices.
Joined by a large group from Young Black Kings we hear these bright young men speak on how the program helps them with their craft along with giving them empowerment and a voice to pass along to their other friends and people in the community.
They all step up to the mic to perform “We Don’t Hear The Haters” and “Don’t Shoot” before individuals break off to freestyle live and read poetry.
