Nick Cannon Is Released From Hospital After Lupus Scare
After weeks of battling lupus, Nick Cannon announced today (Dec. 29) that he is officially home from the hospital.
“I broke out that joint,” Cannon captioned an Instagram video today announcing his release. “Stuffed some pillows under the covers and ran out like the little rascals!! LOL Isaiah 54:17 “No Weapon Formed Against me Shall Prosper” #BeNcredible #NoPityParty After 2 weeks and 5 blood transfusions … by his stripes I am healed!!!”
In the vid, Cannon revealed that it took two weeks and five blood transfusions to get him back to a clean bill of health. The rapper/host/entertainer spent the Christmas holiday in Cedars-Sinai Hospital due to his lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease where the body attacks it’s own tissue. It was just a week ago that the 36-year-old shared a picture in his hospital bed, displaying an armful of tubes and bandages.
Earlier this year, Cannon spoke about being diagnosed with lupus while he was on HuffPost Live. Cannon explained that he was very worried when he got diagnosed in 2012, but that he’s now learned that it’s a manageable disease thanks to a proper diet and preventative measures to avoid all potential complications.
“It was super scary just because you don’t know… you’ve never heard of [lupus],” Cannon said on the show. “I knew nothing about it until I was diagnosed… But to me, I’m healthier now than I’ve ever been before.”
From the looks of the IG video he posted, Cannon is in good spirits, back to his goofy ways and in the studio working on new music. Check out his celebratory video above.
