Parents of 13-year-old Christian Dorscht have filed a civil lawsuit, according to The Huffington Post, against 33-year-old Kevin Ferguson, alleging that the LAPD officer violated Dorscht’s civil rights, causing him emotional distress in addition to assault and false imprisonment claims.

The violent Feb. 21 altercation began with a group of teenagers walking home from school with Ferguson drinking a beer on his porch. He became “irate,” according to the suit, once a girl walked across his lawn, causing Dorscht to stick up for her and telling the off-duty officer to talk to her in a “nicer manner.”
The 33-year-old then grabbed the boy by his collar as the two argued, during which Dorscht adamantly denies making any “shooting” related threats throughout the video of the altercation. Ferguson, who never showed his badge, held onto the kid as he attempted to get away. A group of teens surrounded the off-duty officer as they made their way toward his yard’s hedges where he flips over as others get involved, leading him to pull out his gun and shoot into the ground sending the teens into a frenzy.

Anaheim police arrested Dorscht for suspicion of making criminal threats and battery. Another 15-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of battery for the incident.
Tom Tait, Mayor of Anaheim, commented on the troubling sight: “Like many, I am deeply disturbed and frankly angered by what it shows. The video shows an adult wrestling with a 13-year-old kid and ultimately firing a gun. It should never have happened.” Check out the disturbing footage below.
