Pharrell Stops By The Breakfast Club To Talk “Hidden Figures”

Pharrell Williams stopped by The Breakfast Club Monday (Dec. 12) to discuss his new film “Hidden Figures.” Hitting theaters Christmas Day, this film recounts the story of African-American mathematician Katherine Johnson played by Academy-Award nominee Taraji P. Henson, and her two colleagues, Dorothy Vaughan played by Golden Globe nominee Octavia Spencer and Mary Jackson played by Janelle Monae.

Skateboard P described his excitement to produce his first film, which focused on three women who helped launched John Glen into space during the 1960’s. P also revealed that the story was a perfect fit because he’s been fascinated with NASA and space ever since he was a child. The discussion then pivoted into politics, in which P–who publicly endorsed Hillary Clinton–noted that many simply weren’t ready for a woman to lead the country.

“People look at politics like they look at any other television show, you gotta entertain and that’s what happened. That’s what happened in one case and that’s what did not happen in the other. It’s like social studies and like a catfight, what you going to tune into?” Pharrell said.
