Rich Homie Quan Says He No Longer Talks to Young Thug
It’s been a long while since fans have heard from Rich Homie Quan, but the hitmaker is back and ready to dive into the music game harder than ever. While many fans are still hoping to see a Rich Gang reunion between the Atlanta native and his former partner, Young Thug, things might have taken a negative turn on a more permanent basis.
Last week (May 4), Thugger previewed an unreleased track with himself and Quan, which is slated to be on the rapper’s Easy Breezy Beautiful Thugger Girls upcoming singing album.
While supporters believed that this meant that the two had reunited, Quan recently sat down for an interview with WEDR 99 JAMZ, where he shot down any hope of a Rich Gang reunion, revealing that he no longer speaks to Young Thug. Even though he still speaks to Birdman, stating that “there’s no bad blood” between himself and the label head, he did get candid about his relationship with Thugger.
“We don’t got no bad blood, but we don’t talk. We don’t talk every day like you would think we would talk every day. But we don’t got no bad blood. I just leave…you know, it is what it is. I wish him the best,” Quan says of his current standing with Thug.
He continued on, also addressing the recent song leaks between the two hitmakers. “[They’re] old. I remember them getting leaked about two or three years ago. We ain’t did music in a long time,” he explained.
The 27-year-old rapper also spoke out on doing a 15-month sentence in Dekalb County jail over five years ago, which he finished just before his career really took off. “I had to go to jail just to become the man I am. I had to go through the trials and tribulations. If not, I wouldn’t be here today,” he stated.
During the rest of the interview, Quan also addressed how he was once thought to have signed to Def Jam when he released “Type of Way.” He says that he was never signed to Def Jam, and couldn’t clear that confusion up because of the legal drama that ensued when he wanted to leave TIG. Fortunately, the lawsuit was settled back in 2016 for $2 million, which cleared up the label’s unpaid royalties to the rapper.
