The NBA All-Star experience at Dew’s interactive media center featured a flurry of celeb guests — including Russell Westbrook, Kyrie Irving, Joey Bada$$, Nick Young, Don C., Allen Iverson and many more.
VIBE was on location for all the basketball related festivities and hip-hop action. On Thursday (Feb 16), Russell Westbrook and Kyrie Irving took on GM duties as they held their first 3×3 tournament with Shaq and Dennis Scott as the coaches. Former NBA stars Baron Davis and Jason Williams aka White Chocolate played as the team leaders. The fun continued as Joey Bada$$ held a private performance for lucky fans at Courtside HQ. We don’t want to spill all the beans just yet, but you will the see the epic-ness of his set in an upcoming music video — directed by Shomi Patwary.
We then followed up with Nick Young, who felt he was shafted during the 3-point contest, but was all smiles for our Facebook live chat. As one of the league’s best dressed players, Swaggy P also helped Chicago fashion guru Don C. introduce his brand new DEWxNBA capsule collection. As Nick said, he feels he is the “Rodman of this era,” when it comes to fashion.
Our time in Nawlins’ ended with a trip to the big game on Sunday evening (Feb 19) at Nola’s Smoothie King stadium. Our beloved East Coast team didn’t come home with the trophy, but the game was packed with intense game play, live music, dazzling dunks and a record breaking performance from the hometown star Anthony Davis who was crowned as the 2017 NBA All-Star game MVP.
Stay tuned for exclusive video and photos from the action!
