Solange and Michael McDonald Unite To Perform A Doobie Brothers Classic
This past weekend Solange gave her fans an amazing set in Florida at the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival where she performed a variety of hits from her critically acclaimed, A Seat At The Table. It was during her set where she brought out the elusive music icon, Michael McDonald to perform a Doobie Brothers’ classic, “What A Fool Believes.”
On her Instagram page, Solange praised the famed Doobie Brothers for their incredible performance as she writes, “Anyone who knows me knows that the Doobie Brothers are my musical/harmonic/chord change hero’s [sic] and that I listen to “It Keeps You Running” every day for encouragement. That was fun Michael.”
This performance also comes after the recent announcement that Solange will be headlining this year’s Pitchfork Music along with A Tribe Called Quest and LCD Soundsystem. This summer, her and Saint Heron are all over the festival as there will be three days of events celebrating African-American art, music, and film.
Michael McDonald is also rearing his head from the shadows of his performance. It comes after he made a very memorable appearance alongside Kenny Loggins on Thundercat’s new album, Drunk.
