SZA’s Album Is on the Way in 2017
Top Dawg singer SZA recently expressed her frustrations over her debut album sitting on the shelf. But, it looks like she will get priority in 2017.
Top Dawg CEO Anthony Tiffith recently posted a video to Instagram of himself heading in for a day at the office at TDE studios. After meandering through the building, he ends up at his office with the camera hovering over a notepad that reads “2017 Releases,” but is otherwise blank.
“Watts up world! I just walked in to the offfice.. it’s time to work on my 2017 release schedule… @sza are u ready 2 get them off my head?,” he captioned the clip.
Hopefully this puts the battery in the songstress’ back if she isn’t already in music mode. Things weren’t looking too good back in October, when the singer announced she was quitting music.
“I actually quit,” SZA wrote on Twitter. “@iamstillpunch can release my album if he ever feels like it. Y’all be blessed,” she added, directing he post at TDE president Terrence “Punch” Henderson, who laughed it off.
It’s been over three years since SZA signed with the powerhouse West Coast label back in August of 2013. She has released two EPs while on the label, S in 2013 and Z in 2014, but has not put out a project in the last two years.
Her studio album, A, has been highly anticipated by fans, but it appears her and the label aren’t seeing eye to eye about it’s roll out and release. Hopefully, they get on the same page in 2017.
