Taylor Bennett Returns With ‘Restoration Of An American Idol’

Taylor Bennett released his follow-up to Broad Shoulders on Friday (Feb. 24) with a 9-track project titled, Restoration Of An American Idol. The 21-year-old enlisted a star-studded lineup of features weaved into the free album. Chance The Rapper also gifted his brother with a track he made two years ago when the 21-year-old was in the hospital for blood clots. The Mike WiLL Made-It produced tune pressed its way onto the soundscape, with Jeremih notching a guest appearance in addition to Chance.

“I ended up calling [Chance], and I was like, ‘Yo, can I get this song, I really want this song,’ and he was like, ‘You know what, I got you.’ And he gave it to me which was, like I said, a really big honor because I really loved that song,” Taylor told The Fader.

Bennett expands on the struggles of being in the hospital for blood clots with fellow New York artists Stro and Jordan Bratton on the inspirational “New York Nights.” The mood swings on the uptempo “Neon Lights” melody featuring fellow Chi-town rapper Supa Bwe, and rising star Lil Yachty. Bennett also raps bar after bar at a swift pace. Raury later makes an appearance on the Ludlow produced “Nobody Tell A Name” tune, making this duo a collaborative success.
