Teen Dies After Attempting To Jump From L Train To Platform

The number of Subway-related deaths continue to increase this year. According to the Associated Press, a 14-year-old boy died late Wednesday night (Dec. 7), after he attempted to jump from a moving L train onto a platform.

The train’s conductor slowed down the locomotive’s speed upon entering the New Lots Avenue station when the teen decided to perform the hazardous maneuver, slipping off the platform and collapsing on the tracks. While in critical condition on the way to Brookdale Hospital, the unidentified victim passed away.

Investigators also took the teen’s friend, who was with him at the time, in for questioning. The teen jumped from between two cars. This news follows the death of a 31-year-old man who was fatally struck by a beam while subway surfing on a train in lower Manhattan.
