Congrats are in order for The Weeknd. His track “Starboy” featuring Daft Punk is officially the No. 1 song in the country, having earned the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100.
“Starboy” nabs the No. 1 spot after holding down No. 2 for eight straight weeks. The title track marks The Weeknd’s third Hot 100 No. 1. Previously, the Canadian singer held the achievement for the smash hit “Can’t Feel My Face” for three nonconsecutive weeks beginning Aug. 22, 2015. “The Hills” then claimed the top spot for six weeks beginning Oct. 3, 2015.
Meanwhile, “Starboy” marks the first No. 1 song for Daft Punk. However, the group was sampled on Kanye West’s Graduation track “Stronger,” which topped the charts in September 2007.
In other Weeknd-related news, Abel recently performed a bunch of hits from his latest album, Starboy, at the Vevo Presents concert in Los Angeles. The show took place at the L.A. Hangar Studios in front of over 1,000 fans.
The Toronto singer ran through tracks including “Starboy,” “Party Monster,” “Reminder,” “Secrets” and “False Alarm.” The XO artist also performed the aforementioned hits “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills.”
