Top Dawg Says He Never Talked To Troy Ave About Signing Him

It looks like Trump isn’t the only one calling out fake news these days. Yesterday (Apr. 18), reports circulated the web stating that Troy Ave allegedly had conversations with TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith and Kendrick Lamar about signing to the label when he was in jail. But a little more than 24 hours after the initial story went up, Top Dawg denounced the rumors on Twitter in two simple tweets.

“[For] the record… I’ve never had a convo with Troy ave or any 1 in his camp.. neither has KDot.. yesterdays story was fake news,” Top Dawg tweeted Wednesday afternoon (Apr. 19). The record label head also asked “everybody” to “stop calling and emailing me asking if it is true.” Considering the fact that Troy previously called K.Dot a “weirdo” after he released his single “Control,” back in 2013, it makes sense why Top Dawg isn’t letting this rumor continue to marinate online.

Although it doesn’t look like a TDE deal is anywhere in Troy Ave’s future, the rapper seems to be making some headway on his own after dropping his latest mixtape, Nupac. The new project features “I Ain’t Mad At Cha,” a diss record aimed at Taxstone, Casanova, and many others. Next time, Ave may want to think carefully before dishing information.
