Warriors’ Head Coach Honors Craig Sager With “Moment Of Joy”
Many have reacted to the passing of longtime sideline reporter, Craig Sager, who lost his lengthy battle with leukemia yesterday (Dec. 15). Before a matchup between the New York Knicks and the Golden State Warriors last night (where the Warriors won, 103-90), Golden State’s head coach Steve Kerr decided to celebrate the life of the effervescent Sager with a “moment of joy.”

“Nobody had more zest for life, and passion and joy, the way he lived,” said Coach Kerr, who at one time was a colleague of Mr. Sager. He worked as an analyst for TNT after retiring from the sport.
“He loved his family, he loved his friends, he loved Bud Light, he loved golf, he loved atmospheres like tonight,” Kerr remembered of his friend. “He loved the Cubs. He loved people, more than anything else.”

“We mourn his loss but while we considered a moment of silence, we thought it would be more appropriate, given the way Craig lived his life, and the joy he brought to so many people, to have a moment of joy instead,” Kerr said to claps, cheers and whistling from players and fans inside of Oakland’s Oracle Arena. “I would like all of you to join me in an applause for a great man and a life well lived.”
Rest in peace, Mr. Sager.
