In a recent interview, former military contractor Nicholas Irving expressed agreement with an ICE agent’s decision to fatally shoot Renee Good during a tense encounter in Minnesota. Irving, known for his tactical expertise, viewed the incident through a self-defense lens. He emphasized that a vehicle acts as a lethal weapon when used to strike law enforcement, justifying the agent’s response. “If someone tries to run you over, you’ve got to defend yourself,” Irving stated, drawing parallels to combat scenarios in Iraq and Afghanistan.

While acknowledging the nation’s deep divisions, Irving underscored personal accountability, pointing out that Good could have avoided the outcome by complying with the officers. He also reflected on systemic issues, noting the heightened risks faced by Black Americans during police encounters. Ultimately, Irving stood by the agent’s split-second decision, underscoring the dangers officers face when suspects attempt to flee or resist.
