Nicholas Irving criticized the Trump administration’s handling of Iran, arguing that the current nuclear negotiations could leave Tehran stronger than before. Speaking with Shawn Prez, Irving said the major stumbling blocks are Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile and its ability to disrupt the Strait of Hormuz, a key pressure point for the global economy.
Prez noted that Iran reportedly has 400kg of uranium enriched to 60%, enough, if further enriched, for multiple nuclear weapons. Both he and Irving questioned whether Iran would realistically pull back without major financial incentives.
Irving contrasted Trump’s past attacks on Obama’s Iran nuclear deal with reports of a much larger potential package, including sanctions relief and reconstruction money. He argued that Trump once condemned payments to Iran but may now offer even more.
Irving also blasted the lack of outrage, saying critics once erupted over Obama wearing a tan suit, yet remain quieter over Trump’s Iran policy.
