Former Army Ranger Nicholas Irving recently shared his views on the escalating tensions with Iran, expressing skepticism about the push for war. In a candid interview, Irving dismissed decades-old claims—dating back to the 1990s under Benjamin Netanyahu’s warnings—that Iran is on the verge of developing a nuclear bomb, calling such rhetoric “propaganda” and comparing it to previous unfounded justifications for war, like the Iraq WMD claims.
Irving emphasized that Iran has done nothing significant to directly threaten the U.S. to warrant military intervention. He warned that America often gets drawn into endless foreign conflicts that drain resources and lives, while political and business interests push these battles behind the scenes. Despite the considerable U.S. military buildup in the Middle East, Irving believes the real, looming conflict America faces may be internal rather than external. While he does not rule out war with Iran within the next few months, he hopes diplomacy prevails.
