Both the biggest superstar that the genre has ever produced and a figure that large sections of hip-hop’s fanbase love to hate, Em’s recent career has seen audiences either view his run of releases as evidence that he is the goat, or believe that he represents everything that’s holding back progress in the genre. But now, Em has found himself under the microscope of a new set of critics that, rather than growing up with Em’s music as a constant and watching him rise from a daring young MC to an elder statesman, are just discovering that social niceties aren’t really Shady’s strong suit.
